Ryan R’s Story

I was a healthy young man working everyday as a Landscaper beginning my own business. On June 25, 2024 after a long days work, I was going home when I ran in the back of a tractor trailer that was going 30 miles per hour on the freeway. I was going 55 which is the speed limit. This is what I was told by my parents and the police. I do not remember anything about the accident. I was in ICU in critical condition for 13 days, breathing on a ventilator. I had a traumatic brain injury, fractured 2 vertebrae in my neck, I had a stroke while in ICU causing nerve damage to my right hand and both feet. The medical team had to remove the right side of my skull to stop the bleeding and swelling on my brain. I was moved to the cardiac unit after I got somewhat better, then I was moved to the Rehabilitation Center and remained there for weeks. On December 2.2024 I went into Septic Shock and was back in ICU. I had pneumonia, the medical team had to put a ECMO machine in my groin and an Impella machine in my chest to save my life. I still suffer pain in my left groin area due to the ECMO machine being placed there. I thank God and the medical team for saving my life over and over. My goal is to get back to a normal life as I am only 31 years old. I feel that REVIVE Nuerorecovery Center is the place that will help make accomplish my goal, however I cannot afford the cost due to me not being able to work at this time and my parents are already taking care of me and it is a lot on them. I pray I can get the scholarship so I can attend REVIVE Nueorecovery Center.

The grant will be a blessing to me in helping me regain some independence, strength and the ability to do more for myself and my parents. They are my rock and I want to give back to them for all they have helped me with.
