Miley’s Story

On July 7, 2021 I was in a car accident that resulted in a broken C5 vertebrae and fractured C6 vertebrae. I underwent 4 surgeries, 2 for my spine, one tracheostomy and one gtube placement. I can no longer move my legs, fingers, and have poor core and upper extremity strength. Initially I required a ventilator and had poor blood pressure management but now I am trach/vent free with better pressure tolerance.

I am currently in rehab, re-learning how to move my body and perform ADLs, with as little help as possible. I was previously very active and enjoyed horseback riding, clay shooting and playing guitar.

With this grant, I would have access to good therapies in hope of gaining strength, in hopes of being more independent and one day, walking again.
