I suffered a freak cerebellum stroke on July 19, 2023. I was in the ICU for 2 weeks, the step down unit for 2 weeks, and the rehab hospital for 4 weeks before coming home in September. The type of stroke I had is very deadly and, were it not for the grace of God, I probably should have died. I’ve been unable to work up to this point, but hope to return to work soon. I started out with approximately 10 therapies/week including OT, speech, PT, and vision therapy. Now, I am just pursuing out of pocket therapies as I know I still have progress I can achieve. Before my stroke, I enjoyed biking, hiking, and running. I hope to get back to those activities as much as possible. The stroke journey has not been an easy one, but I have been helped by so many wonderful medical professionals over the past year.
This grant would be such a massive relief to my wife and I. The cost of therapy is large, but the alternative of not doing therapy isn’t really an option to us. We are committed to getting back as much as possible.
